One can't explore how substances combine and transform without glassware. This starter set will empower budding chemists to begin exploring the nature of the chemical world. While not comprehensive (you'll eventually want a distillation apparatus, for example), it's sufficient for many student projects.

Chemistry

The best way to get young people into the great adventure that is science is to give them the tools, the techniques, and the encouragement they need to make authentic discoveries themselves.

LabRats provides all three during our meetings.  But, your student(s) can't achieve their greatest potential as a citizen scientist unless they have access to the essential tools of discovery at home.

Our purpose in creating these pages is to provide you with specific recommendations for products you may wish to purchase to support your children's interest in a particular field of STEM.

Most parents have no idea what needs a budding citizen scientist is likely to have, or how to select products that meet those needs.  So, to make your life easier, we have tired to identify the specific needs that the citizen scientists in your life may have, and then pair each need with a specific product that we feel is an outstanding value.

Please note that, as a participant in the Amazon Associate's Program,  LabRats does receive a small commission on each product sold, and those commissions go directly to support our program.  However, we do not not officially endorse any products or brands except our own.

We hope you find this to be a helpful resource. And we deeply appreciate your support of the LabRats Science Education Program!

Distillation Set

This set of borosilicate boiling flask (1000 ml), thermometer, and condenser tube will provide your laboratory with the glassware to explore many chemical procedures that require distillation. This really a "must have" for any citizen chemistry laboratory. You will want to purchase stands and clamps to hold the glassware safely in place.

Laboratory Stand

Laboratory stands are the backbones any serious chemistry setup. This stand comes with a ring for holding boiling flasks while heating, and a special clamp for securely positioning condenser tubes and refluxing columns and the like. We suggest that you have at least two stands and one ring and two clamps to start.

Model Molecules

There is no better way to get comfortable with chemistry than to be able to construct and hold in your own hands 3D models of the molecules with which you are experimenting. This inexpensive kit will help budding scientist(s) develop the physical intuition they need to develop a powerful understanding of chemistry.

 Stand Alone

I guess you could call this the "stand alone stand." Hold the clamps, hold the rights. This inexpensive aid will help support nearly all of your students' chemistry explorations.

3 -Fingered Clamp

Low cost and highly reliable general clamp for holding scientific glassware.

This is an outstanding educational kit. This provides a comprehensive introduction to atomic interactions and molecular structure.

Safety

Catastrophe in chemistry is often just a small misstep away. That's why it is so it is vital that you cultivate a culture of safety in all of lab spaces. Eye protection should be warn at all times when working with chemicals. Make sure you have proper protection for all your students.

Lab Coats

The classic lab coat!  These are very useful for anyone doing experimental chemistry.

We will respond to you request as soon as possible.
