AFTER THE EVENT... Pumpkin Chucking for Everyone!

Once the winners have been crowned we'll open the fairway to anyone who want's to decorate and toss a pumpkin of their own.  Great family fun!  And all proceeds go to benefit local STEM education projects.

On Saturday morning, November 3rd, teams of students from grades 3 through 12 will lay siege to Eastlake Middle School in Chula Vista, Calif. for the second annual South Bay Pumpkin Smash “Game of Throws.” Their aim...to win honor and prizes by hurtling leftover Halloween pumpkins with both distance and accuracy using homemade Medieval-style  technology.

Presented by LabRats and co-sponsored by the Sweetwater Union High School District (SUHSD), this friendly festival of flying fruit provides young people with the opportunity to learn science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics (STEAM) by participating in a fun hands-on project that will challenge their imaginations and develop their skills in engineering, design, and construction.

Participants will compete in one of three divisions for distance and accuracy.

Division One:    High School,     Grades 9-12

Division Two:    Middle School, Grades 7-8

Division Three: Grade School,  Grades 3-6

NEED A SPONSOR?

A limited number of team sponsorships are available for teams from underserved communities to help offset the costs of construction. Details will be provided during our orientations.
